Thank you for stopping by. I am excited to enter the race to represent Henderson City Council Ward 3.

My family has lived in Henderson since I was four. My mother and father were both from farming backgrounds and moved to Henderson to pursue careers and raise a family. My mother, Ruth, is now a retired educator and my father is Honorable Federal Judge Kent Dawson, who still carries a case load. My sisters and brother still live here with their families and when not working, I enjoy exploring the great outdoors with my six sons.

My Henderson story started in Kindergarten in the Clark County School District, later I would go on to student teach under that same Kindergarten teacher. I graduated from Basic High School – once a wolf, always a wolf! – then went on to earn an undergraduate degree in Zoology, and a master’s in education from University Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), and a master’s in administration from Sierra Nevada University.

I have been honored with an appointment by the last three mayors to serve on Henderson’s Community Education Advisory Board and I share the vision of the mayor and city council of taking an active role in improving our schools. In February I was appointed by Governor Lombardo to the Nevada State Board of Education.

My priorities include community safety, effective communication and transparency, sustainable economic diversification, and healthy livable communities.

I have worked as a Policy Director for the Children’s Advocacy Alliance for the past five years and have seen how quality outcomes are possible with effective practices and policies.

I look forward to further working together with the community, our mayor and existing council members, to maintain and improve our quality of life for both residents and businesses.
